Bellofram Elastomers Expands Flash Cutting to Flat Diaphragms of a Variety of Rubber and Fabric Combinations

Flat diaphragms turned around fast, at savings, for makers of industrial instrumentation and controls

Bellofram Elastomers has announced expanded flash cutting capabilities that now include flat diaphragms in addition to silicone products. Flat diaphragms serve as sensing mechanisms in devices such as regulators, pumps, and other industrial instrumentation and control equipment. By sensing changes in pressure, these flat diaphragms enable the equipment to react and restore original set pressure.

The West Virgina, USA, manufacturer can create prototypes in just days, in dimensions up to 60 x 60-inch pieces. Keeping the process in-house accelerates timelines, improves control, and helps ensure quality.

As a vertically integrated manufacturer of both diaphragms and silicone products, that also sells these products to sister companies that make regulators, pumps, and more, Bellofram Elastomers has rubber in-house and buys in bulk. That means savings and exceptional value that are passed onto customers.

Ideal customers are original equipment manufacturers of regulators, pumps, and valves or remanufacturing shops that typically purchase their own rubber and send it out for converting into flat diaphragms. Bellofram Elastomers can now provide the finished piece, cut to spec, from its own stock of rubber, at competitive prices to these customers. The efficiencies eliminate time and waste from their manufacturing processes.

Bellofram invented the original rolling diaphragm in 1950 and has continued to lead in the manufacture of frictionless and leak-proof rolling seals that handle pressures, temperatures, and stroke lengths over an extremely wide range. The expanded flash cutting capability adds another offering to customers.

Previously, Bellofram Elastomers announced flash cutting for its line of silicone gaskets and silicone pads. Flash cutting is an automated process that uses a system of reciprocating knives and computer numerical control (CNC) to fabricate parts with clean edges and precise shapes, with no die-cutting, and without the time and expense of creating a die.
