Bellofram Elastomers Expands Capacity Again
Adds more flash cutting capability, full-time second shift
For the third time in less than a year, Bellofram Elastomers is expanding its flash cutting capabilities—this latest investment more than doubling production capacity. The continued growth reflects strong market demand and the company’s ongoing commitment to investing in both advanced technology and its skilled workforce.
“We’re keeping up with demand and continuing to gain market share,” said Matt Wingertsahn, vice president of Bellofram Elastomers, noting that the new equipment can process 58-inch rolls of material running several hundred feet at a time. “This new machine alleviates production constraints, further expands our flash cutting capacity, and also enables us to make mold seals faster and more efficiently.”
Flash cutting is Bellofram’s automated, die-less digital knife cutting process that produces precise, clean-edged gaskets and diaphragms directly from sheet material, without the time and cost of hard tooling. By investing in more of this capability, the company can deliver complex, tight-tolerance parts faster and more economically, from rapid prototypes to full production runs.
The expansion adds even greater versatility and throughput to the company’s press lines. Earlier this year, Bellofram Elastomers also brought online a dozen new compression molding presses for its diaphragm division, in tonnages ranging from 250 to 400 tons.
To fully leverage these new capabilities, Bellofram Elastomers has added more than a dozen new team members and established a full-time second production shift.
“Our people are at the center of every improvement,” Wingertsahn added. “We’ve accelerated production, maintained quality, and are better serving an ever-widening customer base.”
As a vertically integrated manufacturer of both diaphragms and silicone products—supplying customers worldwide and sister companies that produce regulators, pumps, and more—Bellofram Elastomers maintains tight control of materials and quality. Rubber is mixed in-house and purchased in bulk, ensuring cost stability and consistent performance. The added production capacity deepens this ability to offer value to customers.
