Bellofram Elastomers Adds 12 New Compression Molding Presses

Expands diaphragm division’s capacity to meet growing market share

Bellofram Elastomers has expanded its U.S. manufacturing facility to accommodate 12 new compression molding presses with vacuum for its diaphragm division. The equipment, in compressions ranging from 250 tons to 400 tons, dramatically increases Bellofram’s diaphragm production capacity to meet growing market share. Floor space was expanded accordingly by more than 2,000 square feet.

Six presses are currently online with the additional six arriving in the next several months. “As market share grew, we were faced with the decision to either outsource some production overseas or devote 100% of manufacturing to the U.S.,” said Matt Wingertsahn, vice president of Bellofram Elastomers. “Fully domestic production gives us greater quality controls and improves logistics for our customers.”

Compression molding presses work by fusing rubber and fabric under tons of force then heat-curing the finished part to achieve precise tolerances. Bellofram Diaphragm is among the few manufacturers in the world to make fabric-reinforced diaphragms.

Bellofram invented the original rolling diaphragm in 1950 and has continued to lead in the manufacture of frictionless and leak-proof rolling seals that handle pressures, temperatures, and stroke lengths over an extremely wide range. The company is known for precision manufacturing, custom material formulations, and unmatched institutional knowledge of applications. The new compression molding presses will enable faster turnaround on both prototype and production orders.
